Weekend update from Riklig Ström...

Tilda and Torvald the Toads are nowhere to be found. It was hot and dry for most of the week, and the swimming pool (aka plastic container) I left them wasn't enough to keep them around.

Our veggie garden and flowers are looking great! Our basil is taking over the garden for sure.

In two weeks we will finish harvesting this first round of veggies and then replant for late summer! Also going to plant some apple trees in the yard, which will take 3-4 years to begin producing.

We are preparing our property for our next animal adventure...bees!  Planting lots of pollinating flowers that attract bees to get ready to add a hive next spring.

So we are quite adept at raising latchkey worms!   We discovered that melon rinds are as popular as bananas and allow us to leave them undisturbed for a longer period of time.

Each of our bins are full of healthy Gerards...lots of new worm babies again! In two weeks we will harvest the first batch of worm castings (vermicompost) and restart the Gerards in new soil/coco coil/peat moss. We are so good at vermiculture that we will have too many Gerards (unless we want a wall of bins in the house)! If you have a garden or compost pile that is in need of some hard working worms, let me know!

The Gerards resume:

-Quiet, efficient labor force who tackle any challenge set before them.

-Team players who work well together.

-Willing to work overtime for no extra pay.

-Self-sufficient and won't require any direction or correction.

We can't ship the worms, but you can pick some up in NoVA in two or three weeks.
