Weekends on the homestead are lovely, despite the blood, sweat, and tears - literally! We enjoy our time here, but this autumn, our calendars are playing a game of "how many minutes can we steal" as we juggle hanging out with our worm buddies and prepping our fall gardens with the reality that we have to work to support our homestead hobby. I had a streak of days filled with work and other weekend activities that made me feel like I was stuck up north for ages. Enter the dramatic gif above...

My sweet hubby inadvertently texted it to me on a Monday morning in the middle of this long run of days as he was looking forward to a weekend here with our guys.

The nerve!

I replied via text expressing my thoughts on the insensitivity of the situation, but received no reply. Subsequently, I chose to stuff my emotions and engaged in an imaginary argument with Peter for the following days. I acknowledge my foolishness and recognize that I am a sinner who requires grace and forgiveness. I am thankful for our marriage where Peter and I can live out the grace granted to us through Jesus towards one another!

A few nights later, I spilled the beans to Peter about my exasperation, expecting him to offer some good explanation for his choice of gif's. Instead, he just stared at me like a lost puppy, completely clueless about the whole situation. To make matters more interesting, our youngest son waltzed into the kitchen just as our voices hit a crescendo. Let the laughter commence!

When I finally figured out that the root of my perceived problems in the past few days was Peter's lack of tech skills, I couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of me getting all worked up over a silly gif about the weekend!

Now, this phrase is frequently heard in our household because we eagerly anticipate the weekends that we CAN spend together here. We appreciate every moment we share in this place!

Peter and I are here this weekend, planting the first of the perennial bulbs that will become flowers to feed our bees next spring. Smells like the weekend!
